Acuvet Biotech was invited to give a presentation on the II Conference on health management and animal welfare on animal shelters and animal collections.
On November 25, the II Conference on Animal Management in animal shelters and Animal Residences organized by AVEM (Spanish Association of Municipal Veterinarians) took place in Madrid.
The main focus of the event was to present, the UNE 313001 standard on animal shelters and residences for companion animals, which has been developed by the AENOR Technical Committee for Standardization 313, created for this purpose and led by AVEM. The aim of the new UNE quality standard is to improve the conditions of health and animal welfare at animal shelters, of both, public and private management. The norm is the result of the consensus of all actors implied, and will allow the harmonization and homologation of procedures regarding animal health and welfare management in those animal shelters that adhere to the norm.

We want to thank AVEM for the invitation to participate in this interesting conference, and congratulate them for the excellent work they are carrying out with the creation of the new UNE standard, searching for improvements on animal welfare at animal shelters.
Acuvet Biotech is currently working on a study in collaboration with AVEM. The study is aimed to develop procedures for the evaluation of animal welfare in dogs housed at animal shelters,based on biomarkers such as CRP or other acute phase proteins. Acuvet Biotech is currently developing a study in collaboration with AVEM for the implementation of procedures for the evaluation of animal welfare in animal protection centers objectively through the determination of biomarkers such as C-reactive protein and other phase proteins acute.
